Beautiful custom illustrated maps for a ‘wild’ corporate retreat & getaway
Discovery Village is a corporate retreat and family getaway resort themed on delivering unique experiences to visitors. We created custom illustrated maps to enable their visitors to understand the space and the location clearly.
Challenge
The resort has 4 scenic locations all over the south of India. Our thought was to create a tool that allowed visitors to one property to get excited about visiting the other three also. We also wanted to create something that celebrated each location and its unique features. How do we use illustrations to solve these challenges?
Research
Our team visited all 4 of the DV sites. We spend a considerable amount of time exploring the area on foot, with locals. That gave us great perspective on what exactly needed to be celebrated for each location.
Design
Our illustrators created 4 custom maps for each DV location, that not only showcased a route but also displayed places to visit near each property The maps were artistic representations of the area with highlights around places that were worth visiting for each guest. Guests could plan their day looking at the maps.
Our team used actual google map locations to create a map that while not to scale was not extremely inaccurate either. We wanted to create beautiful illustrations that were also highly functional and usable. Check out our full Discovery Village case study here.

Each map gave a bird’s eye view of the area to each guest; of activities and places within and around the property that guests could explore.
Impact
We created beautiful illustrated maps of the region that increased customer curiosity about the area and generated increased traffic to DV locations.
